Official "First Shot"
Fired by Glen Fiebig
Opens the Fiebig Range
August 16, 2009

The Fiebig Range was closed from May 27 through August 16 for dirt work and improvements.

The 100 and 200 yd. target ranges were dug out and berms added. Work was also done on the 25 and 50 yard berms. A concert firing line was poured--shooting benches will be added later.

A chemical tank was buried and restroom facility constructed on a concrete pad. Includes a storage room. There will be gravel/crushed concrete spread for a parking area and handicap access will be added to restrooms.

Seeding was done to hold the sand in the newly dug areas. Underground water lines for the 100 and 200 yard target ranges were added to water the seeded ground. A generator was purchased and is now in place and will be used for the irrigation.

Still lots of work to be done but the Fiebig Range has come a long way this summer.

A ceremony was held 4:30 pm August 16 with Glen Fiebig shooting the "first shot" before a group of club members and friends.

Glen fired the "first shot" with his 03-A3 Springfield rifle at the Glen Fiebig Range named in his honor.

Some of the work done this summer was funded by grants from the National Rifle Association, Friends of the NRA and the Nebraska Game and Parks. Plus many hours of volunteer labor done by club members.

NOTICE
Message from the ARC President

The City of Alliance has asked that the Airport Indoor Range be closed to use during regular business hours of 7am through 6pm on weekdays for the safety of construction crews working on the Military Cemetery. No further use of the Outdoor Airport Range will be allowed. We will most likely have to close the Indoor Range permanently this spring.
