Fiebig Range Progress Report
by President Guy Hielscher

August 14, 2009:
Construction on the Fiebig Range is continuing. The bathroom building is completed. Dirt to fill in around the foundation has been donated and delivered by Kent VanMeter. This weekend should find it spread, leveled and seeded. Gravel/crushed concrete for the parking area is next along with forming and pouring of the wheelchair ramp. Installation of underground water lines for the 100 & 200 yard lines was completed this morning and we hope to begin watering very soon.

July 20, 2009: Dirt work on the rifle and handgun ranges are completed as far as the amount of dirt available on site. More will need to be brought in to finish and work will be ongoing. Thanks to a generous donation from Steve Benzel and help from club volunteers about 150 small square hay bales have been delivered to the range to help stabilize the soil. Seeding will begin this week. The concrete pad for the restroom/generator building has been poured and construction has begun.

July 7, 2009: Dirt work is completed at the 100 and 200 yard berms except for seeding. Dirt work on the 25 and 50 yard berms is continuing. Concrete firing line is poured. Chemical tank for restroom facility is buried and concrete supports have been poured. Big round hay bales donated by The Cover Ranches for seed/ground cover have been delivered.

The Restroom Facility was finished by the end of July 2009
Pictures show some of the latest work done on Fiebig Range. The restroom was constructed in sections and then taken to the Range. Concrete pad was ready with the chemical toilets in place.

The dirt work on the 100 and 200 yd. can be seen here with a couple of shooting benches. A concrete firing line has been poured.

The Nebraska Game and Parks Grant required that members put in 200 hours of labor. By the end of July there was almost 400 hours of volunteer work logged in.

Thanks to Royce Brown, Bob Engelhaupt, Annette Henkel and Vickie Hielscher for the pictures of the work being done on the improvements at Fiebig Range.
